Independently studying Mt. Everest
For the second term of my junior year, I am taking a humanities course called a Nations Argument. In this class, we are learning about the history of the United States of America and how different arguments have shaped the country. The first unit is called Thesis and we have learned the basics of creating an argument. We have also been learning about the founding of the United States and how countries argue for their independence. As a part of our learning, we watched a lecture about the declaration of independence, read chapter 4 of A Peoples History of the United States by Howard Zinn, and talked to the principal of a Montessori school about what are students' rights as regards to education. For our Action Project, we wrote our own Declaration of Independence but it is instead about an independent study. I choose to write mine about the history of Mt. Everest since I've recently been reading a lot about it and would love to learn more.
